Meet Frederik. He recently graduated as a Digital Marketing specialist and started his new career. Now he's here to tell us about it. Find out about the challenges he faced during the lockdown, how he achieved his goals, and how he was able to put his new diploma to good use.

When the crisis started, I suddenly found myself unemployed. I used to work in retail- and once stores started closing, many employees were laid off. That was a bummer, obviously – but looking back, it was also a great opportunity to rethink my goals. I decided to focus my efforts in a new direction. I decided to try for a career in Digital Marketing.

I found this school online, and I picked the all-round Digital Marketing course. It looked really professional, and I liked the way it was described as “everything a Digital Marketing expert needs to know.” So I signed up, and they sent me my books and materials online right away. It was a challenge – I spent a few months studying at least 4 hours a day. Then I took my exam (also online).

By the end of the course, I was already looking around for interesting positions. That’s how I found my current job, actually. The moment I passed the exam, I added my new diploma to my CV and applied for the best position I had found.

They invited me for an interview the next day. I was pleasantly surprised that the interviewer knew the school and seemed to respect it. She asked me some questions, and I was able to answer everything easily. Then came the practical test section – and I’ll be honest, I was worried. But as it turns out, all the practical work during the course had prepared me well, and I passed with flying colors.

I got a job offer a couple days later. Naturally, I accepted. And now I’m a Junior Digital Marketing Specialist at a marketing agency in Antwerp.

Would I recommend the training program to others? Definitely. Not only did it keep me going through lockdown- it helped me shape my future self. The hardest part was believing I really have what it takes to be successful. I was never big on studying, and I started a retail job right out of high school. But thanks to the support from my teachers and friends, I’m doing things I never thought I’d be able to do. It was hard – but now, I can look back on my education with a satisfied look on my face. And I can devote all my energy to my future in the Marketing sector.

If there’s one thing I can tell future students, it’s this: Keep believing in yourself and you’ll get there. Cliché as it is, it’s the truth.
