Our colleague Sébastien makes his own soap and detergent. It is a very accessible and inexpensive way to contribute to the environment. He is happy to share his recipes with you on this blog.
Ingredients for laundry detergent:
Preparation: Grate the marseille soap and black soap into small pieces with a grater. Bring 1L water to a boil in a large saucepan and dissolve the soap flakes in it. Keep stirring well until everything is dissolved.
Then remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool. Mix the soap mixture every so often during the cooling process so that it remains liquid. Notice that the substance becomes thicker.
After the mixture has cooled, add the soda crystals, the vinegar and 10 to 15 drops of your favorite scent. I personally like to use lavender or orange blossom for a nice fresh scent. Store your homemade detergent in a bottle of your choice, it lasts for 8 to 10 washes.
Ingredients (preferably organic) for about 20 soaps:
Caution: Make this soap in a well-ventilated area and wear gloves. The combination of these ingredients creates a chemical reaction that is neutralized after mixing.
Preparation: Add all the ingredients together in a large bowl and mix well until everything has become one consistent mass. Then, take a little bit of the mixture in your hand, the size you want for your soap block, and shape it to your liking. Then let them dry until your soap cubes become hard. After this, you can use them as body soap or hand soap, or to give as gifts to your friends and family!
Tip: Add pieces of lavender for an extra delicious aroma and a luxurious spa experience, or mix in ground coffee for an exfoliating effect!
