How to easily survive a lockdown

Tip 1: Create a workspace

If you have an extra room you can turn into an office, you’re lucky. Otherwise, you need a quiet place to sit in every day. Set up your laptop there, grab that coffee and get to work!

Make sure you use a chair you can comfortably sit in for longer period of time. Once you set up your new space, it has one purpose only. It’s your new office. Even if it’s just a certain seat at the table- that’s your work desk now. Keep it clean and treat it as such.

Tip 2:  Create a schedule

As the time managers among us know, the key to productivity lies in a good schedule. Working from home saves travel time, and gives you a lot of flexibility- but it’s important to plan your day in advance. Agree on working hours with your employer. The fact that you’re coordinated with your colleagues will give you peace throughout the day.

Also, make sure to schedule breaks- get up and walk around every now and then. By making a schedule and following it, you’re ensuring you can maintain your effectiveness through the workday.

Tip 3: Take those breaks you scheduled!

Breaks are an important part of your process- they give you something to work toward. Adding a reward element to your workday is a surefire way to skyrocket your productivity. Studies also show that short breaks make you more productive, creative and motivated. They give your brain a chance to catch its breath and then come back freshly invigorated.

Tip 4: Stay in touch with your coworkers

Being stuck at home could impact your mentality- it’s important to stay positive and keep talking to people. Keeping regular contact with your colleagues is a good way to do that, and it has the bonus benefit of keeping everyone in line and productive.

Set meetings. Every morning, let someone know what you’ll be focusing on for the day, and before you log off, let them know what you achieved. Set goals and tick them off.

Tip 5: Make time for yourself

When working from home, the line between work and rest can become blurred. By rewarding yourself with some rest when a day has gone well, you keep the distinction clear. Make full use of your time off work.

Be productive! Cook more, focus on your hobby, maybe even learn a new skill. You can spend your evenings being creative- pick up Blogging, for example. Or you could relax and do some yoga. It’s exercise for your body and mind, and a great way to recharge after a long day.
